Alfred North Whitehead began as a British mathematician and logician, co-authoring the three-volume Principia Mathematica with Bertrand Russell and helping found modern mathematical logic. In his middle and later career he turned to philosophy of science, education, and metaphysics, developing at Harvard a process philosophy centered on events, relations, becoming, and creativity.
