Emad Mostaque
The open-source evangelist who treated generative AI as a public good
Emad Mostaque is a British-Bangladeshi entrepreneur and former hedge fund manager with a mathematics background who founded Stability AI in 2019. In August 2022, Stability AI funded and released Stable Diffusion, an open-source text-to-image model that let anyone generate high-quality images on consumer GPUs, a landmark moment for the open-source generative-AI wave.
