Fang Hongbo
Midea Group's digital transformation captain who reshapes manufacturing through technology
Born in 1967 in Anhui, Fang Hongbo graduated from Central China Normal University and joined Midea Group in 1992, starting from grassroots sales and progressing through multiple core management positions. He became Midea Group's Chairman in 2012, the first non-founder professional manager to lead a major Chinese home appliance company. He led the 'One Midea' strategy, driving Midea's transformation from a decentralized divisional structure to a unified digital platform. Under his leadership, Midea invested heavily in IoT, AI, and industrial internet, acquired German robotics company KUKA, and transformed Midea into a global industrial group spanning four business segments: smart home, building technology, industrial technology, and robotics. As of 2023, Midea Group's market cap exceeded 300 billion RMB, with over 160,000 global employees and products sold in over 200 countries and regions.
