Lenny Rachitsky
Turned seven years of Airbnb product experience into the world's most trusted PM newsletter and podcast
Lenny Rachitsky is an American tech entrepreneur, newsletter author, and podcast host. Born in Odesa, Ukraine, he immigrated to the United States at age six, earned a computer science degree from UC San Diego, and spent nearly nine years as an engineer at Webmetrics/NeuStar before co-founding Localmind in 2010, which Airbnb acquired in 2012. He spent seven years at Airbnb as an early product manager, building deep expertise in growth and product execution. After leaving in 2019, he began writing on Medium, migrated to Substack, and launched Lenny's Newsletter—weekly, deeply researched advice on product, growth, and careers that grew rapidly. He introduced paid subscriptions and a Slack community during COVID in 2020, launched Lenny's Podcast in 2022, and teaches product management courses on Maven. By 2026 his newsletter surpassed one million subscribers, making it one of Substack's top business publications. His core methodology emphasizes quality over growth hacks, using a JTBD framework to judge content value, and delivering actionable advice through expert interviews and data synthesis.
