Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was a Serbian-American inventor and electrical engineer, the primary inventor of the modern alternating current (AC) system. His most important inventions include: the AC induction motor (1888), the polyphase AC system (enabling long-distance power transmission), the Tesla coil (1891), and early development of radio technology (patent dispute with Marconi).
