Failure Is Data, Not an Ending
Blakely father asked every night at the dinner table what she had failed at that day; if she had not failed, her father would be disappointed. This habit shaped her core belief: failure means you are trying, and it is the necessary cost of learning. In Spanx early days she encountered countless rejections (manufacturers, department stores, lawyers), but each rejection was reframed as narrowing the search space.
