Su Hua
Kuaishou co-founder who democratized algorithms to empower ordinary people in lower-tier markets as content creators
Su Hua (born 1985) is the co-founder and CEO of Kuaishou Technology, a Tsinghua University computer science graduate who previously worked as an engineer at Google China. In 2011, he co-founded Kuaishou (originally GIF Kuaishou) with Cheng Yixiao, transforming it from a GIF creation tool into a short video social platform. Su Hua's core philosophy is algorithm democratization — unlike Douyin's centralized traffic distribution, Kuaishou's algorithm is dedicated to giving every ordinary user a fair chance at exposure, rather than concentrating traffic among a few top creators. This philosophy gave Kuaishou a deep user base in lower-tier markets (third, fourth, and fifth-tier cities and rural areas), making it one of China's largest short video platforms. Kuaishou went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2021, with a market cap that once exceeded $170 billion.
